I had a conversation last week with a fellow box owner about creating content for his social media accounts. We discussed what his mission was, what type of mediums he has used in the past to create advertisement, and what platforms are most efficient. We laid out some great plans for him, and I am excited to see the execution.
Timing is a crucial part of determining technological advances that increase your revenue. One of the most common applications is to add a free trial to your website along with a full membership sign up option. This is a surefire way to increase enrollment; however, it is not always an accurate means of determining growth. My colleague inquired about the ratio of free trial members to ones who sign up for full membership. This is a variable equation. I answered his question with a question; “How many times did you take out your wife before you asked her to marry you?” (Actually I said something a bit more inappropriate and off colored, but you get the idea). He agreed that it takes time to build a relationship and that clientele must trust in the product before purchasing it.
Allowing value to be added over time is key for branding. Further, developing good relationships and creating a product people want takes time. Do not always be concerned with an immediate sale; consider the following elements of building a variety of online mediums:
- Who am I putting this out for? (Target Audience)
- Am I speaking in their language (Native to the Target Audience)
- How can it help them? (Adding value to the Target Audience)
Build up momentum over time, be patient. Court your audience as you would your mate or true friend; watch your business evolve into something that is build on giving versus just taking.
